Your future is based on the decisions you make. For example, you decide to take a trip to Japan to learn more about the culture and enjoy the interesting food. However, while in Japan you happen to meet a very important assistant to the CEO of Sony over drinks in Tokyo. While talking, he finds out you recently received your degree in Business Management and are currently looking for an internship or position with a Fortune 500 company. He offers you his card and says to come the following Monday for a chat with some of his bosses.

In one meeting, with a complete stranger your future can be altered. It is very important to network and meet people wherever you go in order to open doors for your future. You have to make choices, sometimes difficult to present opportunities for you to move forward in your career.
A very big part of this decision making process is choosing the right internship. You don't want to work for just any company in any position. You could end up stuck in a paper pushing surrounding, making coffee for an executive and not learning anything valuable. Take your time when choosing your internship. Interview and make lists. Decide what the pros and cons of each company are and they weigh your options. Here are a few basic principles you want your internship to meet:
- What type of environment will you work in?
- Will you have one on one experience with someone who can teach you something new?
- Does the position interest you in more than 2 ways?
- Do you see yourself working for this company as a paid employee?
- Do you like the person interviewing you? Do you connect with them?
