When my friends found out I was moving to England, they thought I had either lost my mind or that I was absolutely brilliant!  I personally think it was a bit of both. I left my life behind in America for a whole new world across the pond, and what an experience it has been.  Being a part of the company I am currently interning with has provided necessary skills to help me in my future career.

As an American or Canadian you can bring a brand new outlook to the European work market.  Companies here are keen to see our potential especially in business and marketing.

The best way to market yourself is to use the skills you see in everyday life.  When you take a drive in the city, you see billboards with advertisements for McDonald's and Wal Mart.  These advertisements are there to sell you their product... to urge you to buy.  This type of marketing is something Americans and Canadians are born to understand.  This is a very important aspect of job seeking, you must market yourself in a way that attracts a company to hire you.

Your resume(CV as we say in British) is an important template to attract a company. You want your resume to reveal all of your best qualities and skills.  Leave out the non sensible aspects but make sure to include any prior work experience or intern experience you may have.

Companies in England and most parts of Europe want a person who embodies a complete package that includes excellent communication skills.  You need to show that you possess the confidence to help the company prosper. Keep in mind that a company is looking at you for your strengths and your possibilities, make sure to market these in your interviews and always dress for success.
